Blistering Summer should go but the gentle breeze in Autumn does not want to come. It makes everyone sweat a lot even in October. It reminds us that we have to love the Earth and treasure the resources to prevent global warming. | |||||||
「劉德容」的學生比較好動,因此,學校特意為每位學生在星期五下午安排了多元智能課。一、二年級的同學會留在課室,等候老師到課室進行不同的主題活動,如:音樂、遊戲、視藝、自理、體育、故事及S.T.E.M,好讓他們學習不同的範疇的知識,發掘自己的興趣與潛能。至於三至六年級的同學,他們根據自己的興趣,選擇適合自己的活動。本年度的活動有:中文創意寫作、奧數、中文話劇、數碼特工、中國舞、棋藝、歷奇、小記者、魔力橋、牧童笛、粉彩畫、黏土、英語小廚師、桌上遊戲、故事演說、普通話綜藝及English Ambassadors。他們可以有序有規地自行到活動的場地,用心地進行活動,令老師十分安慰。學校在放學後和星期六為學生安排了很多活動,如排球、籃球、跆拳道、田徑、乒乓球、魔術、童軍、結他、敲擊樂、滾軸溜冰、卡通漫畫、古箏、剪紙藝術、非洲鼓、英文及普通話集誦、中文及英文戲劇、體操、合唱團、蝶古巴特拼貼、中國武術、小提琴、迷你網球、草地滾球、跳繩、中國舞、英語劍橋、雜耍、氣球、羽毛球、小號等。本年度新增了多項活動,謝謝活動組的老師悉心安排及各位老師的配合。 | |||||||
Student-Ltyan is lively and vigorous. Therefore, the school incorporates the ‘Multi-intelligence Lessons’ for every single student in the timetable. It is held on Friday afternoon. For P.1 and P.2 students, they need to stay in the classroom to wait for the teachers and they can learn different topics in different weeks such as music, games, visual arts, self-discipline, PE, storytelling and S.T.E.M. For P.3 to P.6 students, they have to go to the venues by themselves and I am so glad to see students behaving well and being fast when they go to the venues. They also have different topics such as Creative Chinese Writing, Olympic Math, Chinese Drama, Digital Agent, Chinese Dance, Chess, Adventure, Little Reporter, Rummikub, Recorders, Pastel Painting, Clay, English Chef, Board Games, Story Presentation, Putonghua and English Ambassadors. The school has arranged lots of activities to our students after school and on Saturday, such as volleyball, basketball, Taekwondo, track and field, Table-tennis, Magic, Scout, Guitar, Percussion, Roller-skating, Cartoon and Comic, Chinese Zither, Decoupage Art, Djembe, English or Putonghua Choral Speaking, Chinese or English Drama, Gymnastics, Choir, Dodgebee, Chinese Martial Art, Violin, Mini-tennis, Lawn Bowls, Rope Skipping, Abacus, English Cambridge, Juggle, Balloon-twisting, Badminton, Trumpet and so on. We need to show our gratitude to the members of ECA group as they try their best to do thoughtful and thorough arrangements.

說到外籍老師,不禁令我回想昔日自己學習英文的時候。驅使我對英文產生興趣是我中三的英文老師--Miss Wendy Lam。她經常用鼓勵的方法及有趣的內容,加上她流利悦耳的英文,令我開始喜歡學習英語,自己開始多看英文書、聽英文歌及收看英文電影或電視劇。升至中四時,我的英文老師是訓導主任--Miss Mable Ng。她的教法更多變化,而且能說出一口流利的英式英語,令我更想提升自己的英文水平,我開始不停做英文練習,改善自己的英文文法。多看英語電視劇,模仿外國人的口音,令我自己的英語能力提高了不少。學習語言最重要的是不怕錯,要從錯誤中學習。很多人覺得我曾經在外國進修(我在美國交流時,連當地的老師也覺得我在外國留學。事實上是,我沒有!),因為他們發現我的英文口語流暢,沒有港式英語的口音。這方面真的要多聽英語歌,訓練口部肌肉,英文的發音與中文是兩個語系,要多提醒自己口部的肌肉的運用,而且有時候也要誇張一點點。學習語不是一朝一夕可以練成的,要不斷練習,不斷改進。 | |||||||
When we talk about the NET teacher, it makes me think about myself, how I learnt English. My English Teacher Miss Wendy Lam always used various methods with interesting content to encourage me to learn English when I was in Form 3. Also, she could speak very fluent English and I started to enjoy learning English. I read more English books, listened to English songs and watched English movies and TV episodes. When I promoted to Form 4, my English teacher was Miss Mable Ng who was the Discipline Mistress. She had a lot of techniques to teach us how to apply English. More importantly, she spoke perfect English with British accent and it made me push myself to enhance my English proficiency. I practiced my English through doing a lot of supplementary exercises to improve my grammar. I watched my TV episode to imitate the way foreigners speak with the accent. All these practices made me improve my English a lot in a short period of time. Indeed, the huge barricade of learning language is not to be afraid of making mistakes and we should learn from the mistakes. Some of my friends (even some teachers in US when I visited there) thought I used to study aboard as they found my spoken English is fluent without any influence by my mother-tongue language. Listening to more English songs helps train the muscles around the mouth and you can articulate the sound easily. Also, speaking English is using completely different protolanguage to Chinese. We need to use different muscles and make different mouth shape to articulate the sounds even there is any sound in one of the protolanguage. Sometimes, you have not to be shy to read a bit exaggerated as you can easily figure out how to make the sound clear. Rome was not built in one day which is exactly the same with the theory of learning language. You have to keep on practicing with back and forth. | |||||||
學校在十月也為同學再一次舉行「萬聖節」活動。萬聖節在西方傳統上相信當天是鬼怪最接近人間的。所以人類要派發糖果去驅走鬼怪。現在,老師亦藉此機會,令學生一邊了解萬聖節的由來,一邊學習英文,寓娛樂於學習。 | |||||||
A thematic learning day for Halloween was held again at the end of October. People in ancient foreign countries believed that the last day of October was the day that all the ghosts came and they were so close to the human beings, so people gave their sweets to drive away the ghosts and spirits. Nowadays, teachers take this opportunity to share the history of Halloween and let students learn English. It is such a good chance for students to learn and play simultaneously.

十月三十一日是上學期期中試的開始,為了讓小一生的家長了解如何協助子女溫習,準備考試,學校於十月二十三日舉行一年一度的「小一家長講座」,參加人數踴躍,希望大家也會有所得着,能協助小朋友爭取小學階段第一次的好成績。 | |||||||
The first examination is at the end of October and the beginning of November. For helping all the parents of P.1 students to prepare for the examination, a parent talk was held on 23rd October, 2019. It aimed to help parent understand how to help student do revision to prepare for the first examination in primary school. Lots of parents joined and they concentrated to learn. Wishing they can handle it and their kids will have a good result in the first examination in primary school.
